Building security into every website
Website security has changed dramatically over recent years.
Today’s internet is constantly scanned by automated bots looking for weak passwords, outdated software and poorly configured services. Many attacks are completely automated and target thousands of websites every day, regardless of the size of the business.
For that reason, security is no longer something that can be added later. It needs to be considered from the beginning.
When we build and maintain websites on Amazon Web Services (AWS), we take a layered approach to security. This includes secure account management, multi-factor authentication, regular software updates, sensible server configuration, monitoring, backups and careful control over who or what can access different parts of the system.
No security measure can guarantee that a website will never be targeted. The goal is to reduce risk, detect unusual activity early and recover quickly should a problem ever occur.
Security is also an ongoing process rather than a one-time task. As technology changes and new threats emerge, hosting environments need to evolve with them. We regularly review our configurations and adopt improved practices where they provide genuine benefits for our clients.
Behind the scenes there are many technical measures that contribute to a secure hosting environment. While most visitors will never notice them, they play an important role in protecting websites and keeping services running reliably.
Like insurance, the best security is often the security you never need to think about because it has been planned properly from the beginning.
As cloud services have evolved, we’ve continued refining our own hosting standards by adopting stronger authentication, tighter access controls, improved monitoring and modern security practices.
